Local Anesthesia

Because the lips contain a high number of nerves, injections to the lips can be uncomfortable for some patients.
“Dental block” makes the procedure completely painless.

A  “dental block” refers to injecting an anesthetic agent, such as lidocaine, to the infraorbital nerve through the mouth.

It is performed to reduce discomfort with dermal fillers (mainly to the lips) by blocking sensation from sensory nerves (infraorbital and mental nerves).

This nerve is blocked for filler injections to the nasolabial folds and upper lip. Lidocaine is the most common anesthetic agent used for dermal fillers because of its relatively fast onset of approximately 3-5 minutes and its duration of approximately 1-2 hours.
