Russian Lips
Russian Lip technique shapes the lips into a subtle heart shape with more volume near the centre of the lips. Unlike traditional lip fillers, the technique tends to lift the lip rather than add volume, making them look more natural and an ideal solution for any newbies considering getting lip fillers. The technique also makes your lips appear flatter rather than the plump-look normal lip filler techniques produce.
- Avoid blood thinning over-the-counter medications such as aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, and Aleve (3 days before)
- Avoid supplements, including St. John’s Wort, Gingko biloba, primrose oil, garlic, ginseng, and Vitamin E. ( 3 days before)
- Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinol, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, or any “anti-aging” products.(2 days before)
- Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using hair removal cream on the area to be treated.(2 days before)
- Do start taking Arnica two days prior to the procedure.
- NO alcohol 24hrs before your appointment
- NO coffee on the day of the treatment
- Do not apply make-up after treatment to avoid risk of infection
- Do apply a non-perfumed moisturizer such as vaseline or lanolin cream, use a cotton bad or an applicator and apply gently without pressing or rubbing excessively
- Avoid rubbing or massaging of the injected areas for 24hrs after treatment, including facials (ideally avoid up to a week after treatment)
- Avoid kissing for at least 24hrs after treatment
- Do be gentle with your skin while washing for 24hrs
- Avoid exercise for at least 24hrs after treatment
- Avoid high temperatures at least 24hrs after treatment (including hot beverages)
- Don’t use a drinking straw as it put presser on the lips
- On the first day stick foods that are easy to eat and chew, this means you are less likely to have to wipe your lips and disturb the injection site
- Drink plenty of water
- Don’t drink alcohol up to 24hrs post treatment
- Avoid vitamin E supplements for a couple of days as this increase the risk of bruising
- Don’t use an ice pack on your lips
- Small amount of bleeding from the injection side
- Bruising
- Swelling
- Tenderness
- There is no need to be alarmed when experiencing mild post treatment side effects which are not getting worse over time. Mild swelling and bruising is to be expected and slight discomfort is normal up to 7 days post treatment.
